8 Red flags of Autism

No real rocket science needed. If you notice any combination of these red flags, seek consultation immediately.  Far too many times do I meet families that bring their kids in at five-eight years of age and have all of the red flags described below yet, have never been assessed or observed for potential development delays. Don’t wait, early intervention is the key!

1- No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter

2- No back-and-forth sharing or sounds, smiles or other facial expressions by nine months or thereafter.

3- No babbling by 12 months

4- No back-and-forth gestures, such as pointing, showing, reaching or waving by 12 months

5- No words by 16 months

6- No two-word meaningful phrase (without imitating or repeating) by 24 months

7- No response when the child’s name is called by 10 months

8- Any loss of speech, babbling or social skills at any age.
